Doing this puts more pressure on your glutes, hamstrings and hips, which means you can squat with weight amounts superior to what you might have done otherwise. When you are trying to build muscle, make sure your diet is full of whole, fresh foods. Steer clear of foods that are boxed and pre-packaged, as these contain fillers, chemicals and preservatives that can cause disease and hamper your immune system. Your muscle workouts will be more effective when your immune system is strengthened by healthy nutritious food. Alternate grips, when possible. Try using a mixed or staged grip when doing rack pulls or deadlifts, for the best results. A staggered grip will help you twist the bar in a singular direction, while at the same time, your underhand twists the bar in another direction. That way, you can prevent the bar from moving erratically over the hands. If you are new at working out, focus on your form rather than your strength. You will become stronger with time but you need to adopt good habits right now regarding your form and posture. This can cause injuries, which is the opposite of what you are striving for. Take good care to eat a healthy diet, that includes healthy fats, if you want to build muscle. These fats not only lubricate your joints, they also help to keep your testosterone level high. This can mean muscle gain that is both healthy and effective throughout your body. Don't consume saturated fats though. These are not considered healthy. Take pictures of your bare, naked body every few days. The changes in muscle size build gradually over time and can't be seen by looking at yourself every day. Pictures will help you see how much you have accomplished throughout your program. You should stop working out immediately if you feel even the slightest twinge of pain. Your body is fragile, and pushing your muscles or tendons too far can cause permanent damage. If you experience soreness, allow your body to rest for a day so that you are able to regain your strength. Combine the use of weight machines with free weight exercises for a more effective muscle building routine. Free weights are actually better at building bulk. On the other hand, beginners may prefer the safety of the weight machines. Try to include both types of exercises so you can stay flexible.
